Advocates for Compassionate Therapy Now, LLC

Advocates for Compassionate Therapy Now is a patient-led grassroots organization working to educate and empower peers through resource sharing, community partnerships, advocate training, and consulting services. We work to connect patients and grassroots organizations together in order to facilitate increased accessibility to therapies and services. ACTnow has been a national leader in therapeutic cannabis education and is one of the largest patient-based groups for medically complex patients in Colorado.

Over the last decade, there has been a dynamic shift in cannabis policy resulting in loss of patient access. States are succumbing to federal and corporate pressure to merge cannabis regulatory programs into one “recreational” style framework with low possession limits, cultivation penalties, and concentrate limits/caps. Legislators and regulatory agencies are taking chunks out of accessibility one bill or rule at a time. Many states like Washington, Oregon, Colorado, and California are seeing massive shifts in their medical programs and those just getting access find their program resembles the over-regulated, highly taxed adult-use market. These new medical programs are expensive and don’t allow proper dosing amounts with near monopolistic industry. ACTnow is trying to bring the patient voice back into the conversation by working to educate doctors, elected officials, and the public. We partner with non-cannabis nonprofits and community organizations to bring a broader awareness to those within our wider community. Together, we can push access forward so everyone’s needs are met.
